Classes of Membership
Interior Firefighter
- 18+ Years old
- Certified to CT Firefighter 1 Level
- Current SCBA certification
- Required Bloodborne Pathogen Training
- Required Haz-mat Training (Operational)
- Yearly physical examination
- Attend 24 calls annually
- Attend 4 Department Drills
- Attend 1 Live burn
Exterior Support Firefighter
- 18+ years old
- Required Bloodborne Pathogen Training
- Required Haz-mat training (awareness)
- Yearly physical examination
- Attend 24 calls annually
- Attend 4 Department Drills
- Attend 1 Live burn
Probationary
6 Month Probationary Period
The Process
Minimum Requirements
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Demonstrate a positive attitude and strong mentality
- Have a genuine desire to help others and serve the community
Submit Application
Complete the membership application and bring it to Storm Engine Co. firehouse on Olivia Street.
Applications should be submitted before the first Thursday of each month, which is when the company votes on new applicants.
Interview
After your application is received, you will meet with the Membership Review Committee.
This interview allows both you and the company to discuss expectations, responsibilities, and your interest in joining.
Probationary Apporval
If approved during the monthly vote, you will be accepted as a probationary member.
During this stage, you will receive orientation and initial training.
Physical Health Exam and Background Check
All probationary members must complete a medical physical exam and a background check to ensure readiness and safety for fire company duties.
Full Membership Acceptance
After successfully completing a 6-month probationary period, meeting training requirements, and demonstrating reliability, you may be voted in as a full member of Storm Engine Co.
